About · Penticton, BC

Hello, I'm Brooklyn.

Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, helping people find their way back to healthy, natural function.

Our Story

Early Bird was founded on a simple belief: that healing takes time, and lasting change happens gently, in the right hands.

I'm Brooklyn, a Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, and I started Early Bird because I kept meeting people who had spent years treating the same symptom without ever getting to what was actually causing it.

My interest in this work is personal as much as it's professional. I spent years navigating my own oral habits and patterns, and understanding how deeply they were connected to my breathing, my sleep, even how I felt day to day, changed the way I saw this work entirely. That's part of why I take it slowly and carefully with every person who sits down with me.

Care here is never rushed, and never one-size-fits-all. Every plan is built around your history, your goals, and your pace. Here's a bit more about the path that brought me here.

A foundation in dental hygiene

My journey into healthcare began with my education in dental hygiene at Vancouver Island University. This experience built my foundation in clinical care, patient education, and the importance of looking at each patient as a whole person.

Recognized for compassion

During my final year of dental hygiene school, I was honoured to receive the Colgate Student Total Achievement Recognition (STAR) Award — recognizing an exceptional graduating student who demonstrates dedication to the profession, extraordinary compassion in patient care, and a strong commitment to community service.

Receiving this award was a meaningful recognition of the values that continue to guide my approach to patient care today.

Deepening the science

My desire to continue learning and deepen my understanding of health led me to pursue a Bachelor of Health Science at Thompson Rivers University — furthering my knowledge of health and reinforcing my interest in the connections between different systems of the body and overall well-being.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Completed specialized training in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) through Mycoaches, an IAOM Affiliate Course — gaining the knowledge and skills to assess and address myofunctional patterns that influence breathing, oral posture, swallowing, chewing, and overall function.

My interest in OMT is also personal. Through my own experience with myofunctional habits that needed to be addressed, I developed a deeper understanding of how these patterns can affect daily function and overall well-being.

The rest of Brooklyn

Outside of her professional life, Brooklyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring farmers' markets, connecting with local artisans, and creating scrapbook projects. She also enjoys paddleboarding and snowboarding, and expresses her love of music by playing the French horn with the local Penticton Concert Band.

At home, she is a proud cat mom to Mae, Basil, and Jude.
